Gartneriet Skovhavegård Bær is a 3-year-old nursery that produces strawberries. For the past 2 seasons they have used LED fixtures to improve the growth of the berries. But not only the growth has been improved – the season has also been extended so that it now starts in April and ends in mid-November. The vision is to produce strawberries all year round.
For the grower, it is important to supply high-quality strawberries to local markets and large supermarket chains. Therefore, it was decided to improve production by using LED luminaires from DGT by Senmatic, and after advice from the responsible sales person, the choice fell on the controllable FL300 Grow.
Results
Due to the controllability of FL300 Grow, the spectral composition and light intensity were adapted exactly to the needs of the strawberry variety.
The conclusion is that the Favori variety grows a significantly larger plant and root, and the number of leaves and bunches also increases. Most importantly, the plant gets 1-2 more flowers per cluster, and with the help of the LED light, the plant can also develop the more flowers that it produces.
The gardener mentions that using LED fixtures requires more watering and fertilizer needs to be carefully managed. But since he uses AMI Penta Water and Fertilizer Mixer as part of SIIP system (Senmatic Iintelligent Irrigation Pprogram), however, this does not cause any problems.
