Senmatic’s contribution to UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals
In 2015 all United Nations Member States adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The 17 goals for sustainable development mark the most ambitious development agenda ever seen. It is centered around three dimensions: economic, social, and environmental, and act as action plan for people and planet.
Our goals
Senmatic sensors primarily works with two of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals:
#7 – Affordable and Clean Energy
Targets 7.1, 7.2, 7.3 and 7.a
We deliver modern sensor technology that enables control and safety for the future’s sustainable energy use. We have year-long experience with sensor technology for e.g., the , for control and regulation of energy intensive equipment promoting reduction of CO2 emissions and for control of temperatures in scrubber technology, used to clean exhaust gas in the marine industry.
It is our ambition to also bring these experiences into play in future energy-sectors, such as Power-to-X and thermal energy storage. Doing so, we enable and ensure dependable access to an increasing share of sustainable energy in the global energy mix.
#9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
Target 9.4
On a corporate level, we work strategically with sustainable operations and effective production. We take actions to decrease our CO2 emissions and ensure minimal environmental footprint. We reduce our energy use by changing light sources to LED, have invested in a new central heating installation with heat pumps in replacement of gas, and have committed to bring down CO2e emissions from our vehicles. 42.99% of our total energy use in 2020 was sourced from sustainable energy sources.
We have also adopted the UN Global Compact and a Code of Conduct
Senmatic’s owner, the Swedish industry group Indutrade, has adopted the UN Global Compact and has committed to work with the agreement’s 10 principles.
The UN Global Compact’s 10 principles revolve around responsibility in terms of human rights, labor rights, environment, and anti-corruption., and are thereby also applicable for how we operate our business at Senmatic.
In addition to the 10 principles, we have a Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct is an expression of who we are and how we do business – both in our daily work and in our relationships with people in our operating environment, such as customers and subcontractors.
